WhizComms has been operating in Singapore since 2016, offering fibre broadband plans and related add-ons to home users. Like SIMBA, WhizComms offers competitively priced broadband plans. The internet provider uses Singtel’s network infrastructure for its plans. WhizComms offers a few “no frills” fibre broadband plans that are light on features but offer great value relative to the speeds on offer. Scroll on for our WhizComms broadband plans review.
Here’s a list of the WhizComms broadband plans we track in our database.
WhizComms fibre broadband plans
WhizComms offers three main fibre broadband plans. Two of the WhizComms broadband plans have a choice of either cheaper monthly prices for 24-month contracts or slightly pricier monthly fees with a 12-month contract. Whichever WhizComms plan you choose, there’s a $54.50 installation fee and a $61.04 NetLink Trust Activation fee. Unlike other fibre broadband providers, there’s no router included with the WhizComms plan price, but you do get an Optical Network Router on loan. Though there aren’t many features, WhizComms does offer a free on-site WiFi audit to install a router in the best location for your home.
Some fibre broadband providers in Singapore offer an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) while others, like WhizComms, offer an Optical Network Router (ONR). An ONT acts as a modem, which connects to a router. An ONR operates as both a modem and a router, though the router portion only works for wired devices. Practically speaking, you’ll need to connect an ONT or an ONR to a router that offers WiFi to use the internet on any wireless devices in your home.
The cheapest WhizComms plan is the FibrePlus 2.5Gbps, which costs $26 per month for a 12-month contract or $24 per month for a 24-month contract. This WhizComms broadband plan has up to 2.5Gbps symmetrical download and upload speeds. Compared to similar plans in our database, WhizComms has the cheapest typical pricing.
For comparison, here’s a list of plans from our database with at least 2.5Gbps speeds.
WhizComms offers a 3Gbps No Frills plan for $28 per month, which has a 24-month contract. You should expect up to 3Gbps symmetrical speeds.
In terms of typical pricing, this WhizComms broadband plan is the cheapest one in our database for 3Gbps speeds, though SIMBA doesn’t cost much more for a 10Gbps plan. Check out fibre broadband plans from our database below with at least 3Gbps speeds.
The priciest WhizComms fibre broadband plan is the FibrePlus 10Gbps No Frills. It costs either $28.99 per month for a 24-month contract or $29.99 per month with a 12-month contract. Either price offers up to 10Gbps symmetrical download speeds.
Compared to other 10Gbps plans in our database, SIMBA and WhizComms have identical monthly pricing for their respective plans on a 24-month contract. But WhizComms has a cheaper upfront fee. ViewQwest is also only slightly pricier than the SIMBA and WhizComms plans. For comparison, here’s a list of 10Gbps plans from our database.
