The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold had a shockingly limited market run. The three-pane foldable was unveiled last December and was discontinued in multiple markets shortly after. It went on sale a few times in Korea, and lived to see a few restocks in the U.S before selling out with no future restocks in sight.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold was a skinny 3.9-4.2mm when unfolded, but a chunky 12mm when unfolded. It featured two hinges that opened up to reveal a huge 10-inch inner display.
Rumours indicate a new TriFold is on Samsung’s roadmap. Reports state that it’ll be thinner, with Samsung potentially developing a new hinge with some technical upgrades. This new hinge is bound to work in its favour, especially for those who want to shove their TriFold into their pocket.
However, Samsung have been relatively tight-lipped about this new hinge, and it’s unclear whether or not some of the new single-folding Galaxy smartphones will include it.
With a thin frame and a lighter weight than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is in a unique position. Rumoured to make its debut in mid-2027, we’re keen to see how it stacks up, especially against the rumoured Apple foldable, which is expected to launch in September of this year.
Even though the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold was here for a good time, not a long time, we’re excited to see if the rumours surrounding it will come to fruition.
