ZYM Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that offers plans via the Singtel network. The telco has been selling Singaporeans SIM-only mobile plans since 2021, all of which have roaming inclusions, caller ID and unlimited incoming talktime and SMS. But are these plans worth your money? Let's find out.
ZYM Mobile SIM-only plans
ZYM Mobile SIM-only plans are all no-contract monthly offerings, which have several free inclusions: number port-in, caller ID, incoming calls and incoming SMS. All plans cost $3 upfront for SIM delivery, so if you’re after a ZYM eSIM, you should look elsewhere, because this telco only offers physical SIM cards via delivery or in-person collection.
ZYM offers both 4G and 5G plans, with the former being the cheapest. Let's start with a look at the 4G ZYM Mobile plans.
ZYM Mobile 4G plans
The cheapest SIM-only option is the ZYM Mobile Flexi Duo Data Only Plan, which costs $7 per month for 77GB of data, which can be used in Singapore or Malaysia. There aren’t any calls or SMS with this plan, but it does include 100GB of roaming data for Malaysia (90-day expiry). This is one of the cheapest SIM plans on the market, but it's important to note it does not include calls or SMS.
The cheapest ZYM Mobile plan that includes 300 call minutes and 100 SMS is the $7.70 per month Roam Saver plan. It comes with 200GB of local data plus 100GB of data to use in Malaysia (365-day expiry, one time only), plus 3GB of data per month for use in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, and India. Those porting in from a non-Singtel network will also get free 5G access for the first 90 days. Again, this is one of the cheapest plans in our database.
The Roam Plus plan is ZYM's final 4G plan. It costs $10.10 per month for 300GB of local data, 1,000 outgoing local call minutes and 100 local SMS. This plan also includes 600GB of roaming data for use in Malaysia and Indonesia (365-day expiry, one time only), plus 5GB of roaming data per month for 13 Asia-Pacific destinations. New ZYM number signups will also receive a rebate for their fourth, fifth and sixth months. If you're porting in from a non-Singtel number, you'll also get 180 days of free 5G access plus a rebate of your fees from month 7 to 12. This plan offers some of the best value for money in terms of calls, but there are cheaper plans from competitors with more data.
Now, let's move on to ZYM Mobile's 5G plans.
ZYM Mobile 5G plans
ZYM Mobile’s cheapest 5G plan is the Roam Smart SIM Only plan, which costs $15.10 per month for 400GB of local data, 2,000 outgoing local call minutes and 100 local SMS. This plan also has 600GB of data for use in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand (365-day expiry, one time only) and 15GB per month for 13 Asia-Pacific destinations. Like the previous plan, new ZYM number signups will get three months free from the fourth to sixth month, while non-Singtel port-ins will get six months free (from month 7 to 12). Although there are cheaper 5G plans available from other providers, for new numbers and non-Singtel port-ins, it's hard to beat those free months.
The next ZYM Mobile plan is the Roam Eco SIM Only plan, which costs $17.10 per month for 500GB of local 5G data, 1,000 outgoing local call minutes and 100 local SMS. It also has the same 365-day, one-time 600GB Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand data as the above plan, plus 18GB roaming data per month for 13 Asia-Pacific destinations. New ZYM numbers will get a $10.10 monthly rebate from month four to six, while non-Singtel port-ins will get the same rebate for six months starting from month seven. This plan is among the cheapest in our database for a plan with 500GB or more, only beaten by eight and SIMBA.
ZYM Mobile’s priciest plan is the Roam Power SIM Only plan, which costs $22.10 per month for 600GB of local 5G data, 2,000 outgoing local call minutes, and 100 local SMS. Like previous plans, it has 600GB of roaming data for Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand (one-time, 365-day expiry) and 25GB roaming data per month for 13 Asia-Pacific destinations. New ZYM numbers get a $15.10 discount from month four to six, and port-ins from non-Singtel networks get that discount for six months, from month 7 to 12. Without the rebate, it's worth considering cheaper plans from other providers with similar inclusions.
