Corporate individual scheme (CIS) SIM plans are a popular professional perk in Singapore. But not every mobile provider offers a CIS promotion plan. We break down CIS SIM plans, CIS eligibility and which mobile providers offer them

What is a CIS SIM plan?

CIS is short for corporate individual scheme. A CIS SIM plan is a plan available to the employees of eligible companies in Singapore.

CIS SIM plans may offer perks such as cheaper mobile plans, mobile phone discounts and extra features not available in typical SIM plans. To sign up for a CIS SIM plan, you need to be an employee of a company that’s part of a CIS programme.

Mobile providers that offer CIS plans have eligibility forms and criteria that companies can use to sign up so their employees can access them. It may also be possible to convert a personal mobile phone plan to a CIS SIM plan.

Eligible employees may be able to sign up for multiple CIS SIM plans. Certain mobile providers like Singtel require CIS SIM users to sign up for a plan that includes a mobile phone. CIS SIM plans may not be for those after SIM-only. Certain CIS SIM mobile providers will allow multiple connections (called “lines”) to share the savings with other people.

Which mobile providers offer CIS SIM plans?

We track 7 mobile providers for Singapore in our comparison engine. But not all mobile providers offer CIS SIM plans, including MyRepublic, redONE, eight, VIVIFI, giga and GOMO. Instead, speak with the following mobile providers about a CIS SIM plan:

Circles.Life CIS SIM plans

Singtel CIS SIM plans

Singtel has nine CIS SIM plans, most of which are paired with a mobile phone, while three are SIM-only plans. Singtel CIS SIM plans usually have lower monthly fees than regular plans for up to three lines and include mobile phone discounts. Here are Singtel’s CIS device and SIM-only plans:

StarHub CIS SIM plans

StarHub has four two-year CIS plans, which must be paired with a mobile phone, and two SIM-only no-contract plans. These CIS plans support up to four mobile lines. With the device plans, you'll get free incoming calls, plus one month of GeForce NOW and three months of Amazon Prime for free. Here are StarHub's CIS plans:

StarHub Device Plan M: $105 per month, 24-month contract, 250GB, 1000 (plus an extra 300) outgoing call minutes, 1GB global data roaming, 600 SMSes.
StarHub Device Plan L: $135 per month, 24-month contract, 300GB, 1800 (plus an extra 300) outgoing call minutes, 1GB global data roaming, 800 SMSes.

Instead of offering specific CIS plans, Changi Mobile offers discounts on all its standard plans (except the Flexi Lite plan), ranging from 15 to 25% off, depending on the company you work for.

Zero1 CIS SIM plans

While Zero1 do offer CIS plans, the process is a tad more complicated than other providers.

To sign up for a CIS plan, you’ll need to enrol in the Zero1 CIS Programme and wait for your enrollment to be approved. After you’ve been approved, you can start looking at what SIM cards suit your business best. If you’re a member of the Zero1 CIS programme, you can choose any consumer Zero1 plan. A unique coupon code will be assigned to your organisation by Zero1, which is what you’ll use when you go to checkout.

The savings vary based on each business, so you won’t be able to see the final price of your CIS plan until your application has been approved and you apply your organisation’s coupon code. But below you can see what to expect from a standard Zero1 plan.

What is a CIS SIM discount?
A CIS SIM discount is a price reduction for a plan from a mobile provider that sells CIS SIM plans. These SIM plans are offered to the employees of participating companies that have signed up for CIS plans from eligible mobile providers.

What’s the best CIS SIM plan?
The best CIS SIM plan is tricky to nail down because it depends on whether your employer is enrolled in CIS SIM plans with an eligible mobile provider. Where available, we recommend choosing a CIS SIM-only plan to keep costs down.
